Everything you need right on your doorstep

The FÜRstenried West district is an attractive residential location with numerous rental apartments in the south-west of Munich, the interface between the city and the region. Fürstenried is part of district 19 and consists of the areas Fürstenried East, Fürstenried West, Maxhof and the Kreuzhof and Neuforstenried estates. A total of around 96,700 inhabitants live in the Fürstenried district and the other parts of district 19. The district, whose roots date back to the Middle Ages, is now a popular residential area in Munich that offers its residents a high quality of life with plenty of green spaces and an intact infrastructure. There is something for everyone: walkers are drawn to the Waldfriedhof cemetery to the north-east, while those who like things more active will find plenty of space for cycling, hiking or for families with children to play and run around in the adjacent Forstenrieder Park nature reserve and local recreation area to the south. The surfing paradise on the Isar rafting area, the Maria Einsiedel natural outdoor pool and the Forstenrieder Park leisure pool provide the necessary cooling off in summer. For sports enthusiasts, there are tennis courts and sports fields nearby as well as inviting beer gardens for connoisseurs. Nature lovers can reach Lake Starnberg in around 15 minutes by car from Fürstenried or the foothills of the Alps in 45 minutes.

Here you will find everything right on your doorstep: many shopping facilities, public institutions, the ASB senior center in Luganoweg, a school center with all types of schools, as well as cultural and leisure activities. The district is also well connected via public transport and its proximity to the A 95 freeway.

Education is at home here

For young families in particular, sooner or later the question arises as to where the nearest kindergarten is located or how far away the nearest school is. In the FÜRstenried West quarter, these questions are quickly answered: Your child can stay local from daycare to high school graduation! We provide daycare centers with over 350 places for young children. We also have primary, secondary and intermediate schools as well as a grammar school within walking distance. The universities can also be reached quickly by subway. Fürstenried West therefore offers an excellently connected location for children, teenagers and young adults.

There is a lot to do

To paraphrase Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: “Why wander far away when good things are so close?” – this statement certainly applies to the local sports and recreational facilities in the FÜRstenried West district. A large number of sports clubs are located in the immediate vicinity of the neighborhood. Also within easy reach of Munich: Lake Starnberg, the Alpine foothills and the Alps.

The fifth largest lake in Germany is ideal for swimming, rowing and sailing – but it is also popular with divers and kite surfers. Water skiing is also possible here at certain times. Hikers and cyclists will find many beautiful routes for physical exercise in the fresh air here – and in the rest of the Alpine foothills. In winter, skiing enthusiasts and snowboarders in particular enjoy the advantage of being on one of the countless slopes in the Alps in no time at all.

Always well supplied

At Schweizer Platz and in the immediate vicinity you will find shops for your daily needs: several supermarkets, a health food store and a bakery – as well as ATMs and a specialist bicycle store. Healthcare is also available here: Several doctors’ offices and a pharmacy are located around the square, which is also home to the “Fürstenried West” subway station. Keyword “Switzerland”: many of the street names in the district are appropriately related to towns, municipalities or cantons in our neighboring country – Appenzeller Str., Bellinzonastrasse, Graubündener Str., Zuger Strasse. This makes it easier for new residents to find their way around the FÜRstenried West quarter.
