Roofing ceremony for Haus Rotondo – the FÜRstenried West neighbourhood continues to grow together
At the heart of our FÜRstenried West district, we celebrated the visible progress of our urban quarter with the roofing ceremony for the new Rotondo building with representatives of the Bavarian Chamber of Utilities, Hines, the City of Munich and many neighbours.
The Rotondo building is being constructed on Forst-Kasten-Allee and will be the future high point of our FÜRstenried West neighbourhood. It will house 93 modern rental flats with a total of around 7,500 square metres of living space. The building will be complemented by a commercial unit, a small neighbourhood gym and a communal roof terrace. Completion is scheduled for early 2026.
The roofing ceremony took place in an open and very positive atmosphere. We were particularly pleased about the many neighbours who came to see the construction progress and to talk to us. The feedback was consistently constructive, interested and encouraging.
In his welcoming address, Dr Christian Scharpf, Head of Labour and Economic Affairs for the City of Munich, paid tribute to the joint commitment of those involved in the project: “It is a strong sign when consistent investment is made in affordable housing in economically strained times. Hines and BVK show how responsibility is taken on together – for urban development, for the people of Munich and for a neighbourhood worth living in.”
Michael Griesbeck, Managing Director at Hines, also emphasised the attitude behind the project: “This project is characterised by a clear stance. Not a luxury project, not condominiums, but liveable, attractive rental flats in the low and medium price segment with high-quality green and recreational areas, social infrastructure and a future-oriented mobility concept. What is being created here is not a collection of individual buildings, but a piece of lively city on the scale of Munich.”
Axel Uttenreuther, Chairman of the Management Board of Bayerische Versorgungskammer, emphasised the long-term responsibility: “As a long-term and sustainable investor, we are building on substance, as we are doing today. With the FÜRstenried West neighbourhood, we are creating lasting value – for our policyholders and members, but of course also for the people who live and will live here now and in the future.”
The primary goal is still to create a mixed neighbourhood with a high quality of life, good social infrastructure, green open spaces and mobility options that make everyday life easier. With its location between the Waldfriedhof cemetery and Forstenrieder Park, its immediate proximity to the U3 underground terminus and its connection to the innovation sites in Martinsried and Großhadern, the FÜRstenried West neighbourhood combines urban density with natural surroundings.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the roofing ceremony and look forward to the next steps in our neighbourhood.
